Nelson Mandela (1918–2013) was a South African black nationalist who spent 27 years in prisonfor fighting against the country’s discriminatory apartheid system of racial segregation.His negotiations in the early 1990s with South African Pres. F.W. de Klerk helped bring and end to apartheid and ushered in a peaceful transition to majority rule.
Mandela served as president (1994–99) of the country’s first multiethnic government.
We all know that stress has serious emotional, and physical, consequences. Yet we all have so much trouble taking action to reduce our stress levels and enhance our lives?
A part of the answer may lie in what Researchers at Yale University have discovered. They found that stress reduces the volume of grey matter in the areas of the brain responsible for self-control.
So stress you are experiencing at any moment is helping to shrink your brain. A brain with a reduced volume in critical areas, and that is all of your brain, will make it more difficult for you to deal with current and future stress because it diminishes your cognitive ability, hurts your performance, thereby degrades your ability to take control of the situation, make decisions, take action, and manage your stress.
We will coach you so that you will begin to adopt the attitudes and behaviors that will enable you to make building resilience and reducing and managing stress a high priority.
SAY NO TO STRESS!!!
Here are some ways to fix your brain and stop grey matter shrinkage:
Say "NO" more often.
DISCONNECT and get off of the grid and the demand circuit for a few minutes, or hours, or days.
NEUTRALIZE TOXIC PEOPLE - Minimize the amount of time and occasions that you interact with them.
DON'T HOLD GRUDGES- "As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn't leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I'd still be in prison.- Nelson Mandela
